    Electronic Publications

    The Council of Graduate Schools (CGS) owns all rights, including copyrights, in the electronic publications displayed on or downloaded from this website (Online Publications). The rights to use the Online Publications granted hereunder are provided only to individuals at CGS member institutions (Authorized Users). By exercising any of the rights to use an Online Publication provided here, an Authorized User agrees to be bound and abide by these terms and conditions.

     

    Limited License to Copy and Distribute

     

    CGS grants, subject to these Terms of Use, a limited, non-exclusive and nontransferable license to Authorized Users only (a) to print a single copy or make a copy in PDF format of an Online Publication solely for their personal, noncommercial use and (b) to distribute a printed or PDF copy of an Online Publication to individuals who are actively employed by and/or enrolled at the Authorized User’s CGS member institution (e.g., current administrators and graduate school staff, faculty, enrolled graduate students) for their personal, noncommercial use. Authorized Users are prohibited from (a) distributing copies of Online Publications to individuals not currently employed by and/or enrolled at their member institution,  (b) posting copies of Online Publications in whole or in part on public internet or institutional intranet sites, or (c) engaging in any substantial or systematic reproduction of Online Publications.

     

    Alteration; Notices

     

    Authorized Users may not modify, adapt, transform, translate or create any derivative work of an Online Publication. Each copy of an Online Publication will include a Copyright Notice which may not be removed, obscured, or modified in any way.  Any use of the Online Publications not expressly permitted may constitute copyright infringement.

     

    Restrictions and Limitations

     

    These Terms of Use do not apply to CGS Print on Demand Publications.

     

    Disclaimer

     

    CGS and its employees disclaim to the maximum extent permitted by law any legal responsibility for errors, omissions, or accuracy and all warranties, express or implied, with respect to the content of the Online Publications including, but not limited to, WARRANTIES AS TO MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. In no event shall CGS OR ITS EMPLOYEES be liable for any special, indirect, or consequential damages.

     
    User Warranty

     

    Each Authorized User warrants that it will use reasonable efforts to ensure the security and integrity of each Online Publication and will notify CGS promptly of any unauthorized use of the Online Publication of which it becomes aware.

     

    Change of Terms; Termination of Access

     

    CGS reserves the right to change, modify, or otherwise alter the terms of this license without prior notice to the Authorized User and to terminate an Authorized User’s access to CGS servers for any violation of these Terms of Use.
